MAINZ 05 WINS AGAIN VW POLO CUP 2019

Numerous top academy teams met on 24/25 August 2019 at the Sportpark Husterhöhe in Pirmasens to play out this year's U13- VW Polo Cup. The spectators saw top-class games and a thrilling final match of two top teams, finally winning of our partner 1.FSV Mainz 05 and securing the title. In the final, the 05er-team prevailed against the youngsters of the French Ligue 1 club FC Metz in the penalty shoot-out. Previously, the Mainz team had prevailed in the semi-final against Tennis Borussia Berlin (3:5 n. E.) and the French against SV Wehen Wiesbaden (1:0). The third place was secured by the team from the German capital through a 2-0 victory over the Hessians from Wiesbaden. In the three preliminary round groups, the U13 of the Bundesliga team SC Paderborn was the best team and remained in four games completely without loss of points. In the final round group, however, the SCP against Metz and Berlin could not continue the previously shown performance and only managed a 1-1 draw against Tennis Borussia.
