OUR PARTNER DSC ARMINIA BIELEFELD IS INTENSIFYING ITS INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN SOUTH AFRICA THROUGH A COOPERATION WITH MARITZBURG UNITED. THE INITIAL FOCUS OF THE COOPERATION IS ON DIGITAL TRAINING SESSIONS AND ADVANCED COACH TRAINING AS WELL AS THE EXCHANGE OF KNOWLEDGE IN VARIOUS AREAS, ESPECIALLY IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT.

The club from Pietermaritzburg in the province of KwaZulu-Natal has been playing in the highest division, the Premiere Soccer League, since 2008. The first team is currently coached by former DSC coach Ernst Middendorp, who has another ex-Armine in his ranks in Rowen Fernandez (goalkeeping coach).

"We have already seen last year how great the unifying power of football can be across all borders. Despite the great distance and the difficult situation caused by the worldwide Corona pandemic, we have already been able to make a lot of difference with various campaigns and bring a lot of joy to the children and young people in South Africa, train young talents and coaches in this football-mad country," says Maurice Eschweiler, Vice-President of DSC Arminia Bielefeld e.V. He emphasises: "For us, this cooperation is the first step towards connecting Arminia Bielefeld internationally with people who love football. I would like to express my sincere thanks to all those who have made this cooperation possible. Special thanks go to club president Farook Kadodia and his son Younes for the very good and trusting discussions. We are looking forward to a good cooperation and a lively togetherness."

Finn Holsing, Head of AKADEMINIA at DSC Arminia Bielefeld, is looking forward to the intensive exchange with Maritzburg: "Last year, we experienced how great the enthusiasm and joy were when we were able to share and further develop our ideas and concepts of football and youth development. This exchange on a sporting, cultural and especially human level is a great opportunity for all involved and will certainly produce many moments and experiences of great value. We are very much looking forward to what we will experience and move together in the coming months."
