GREAT DEBUT FOR ROBERT BALABAN
When the referee blew the final whistle of the Under17 derby between SV Elversberg and 1. FC Saarbrücken on Saturday, September 6th, 2020 it was a very special moment for our former player development player Robert Balaban.
Robert has completed his move to SV Elversberg from our Canadian cooperation partner Toronto Skillz this to continue his development within the club's academy. Robert has been a Toronto Skillz player since the age of 10 and captained the U16 team last year before graduating to our League 1 Reserve team for the 2020 season.
Robert is the next great example for our work as we continue to create opportunities for international players in Germany. Through Schachter Sports, every player in our partners academies is provided the opportunity to spend two to three weeks each year in Germany and be coached by our highly qualified coaches. These trips provide international players with the opportunity to train with top youth academies and get seen by German teams on a regular basis. Robert for example, participated in our player development program for the last three consecutive years.
We are very proud that Robert started this journey in Germany with a derby win and we are sure that this is only the first of many successful chapters to follow.
